Poet Laureate of Prince Edward Island

David Helwig was born in Toronto in 1938. He has lived in PEI since 1996. His first book of poetry was published in 1967. His thirteenth, The Sway of Otherwise, will appear from Oberon in 2008. He has won the CBC Poetry Award and the Atlantic Poetry Award. He has also published several volumes of fiction.
